The KSKJ Life Foundation PDF Print E-mail

The KSKJ Life Foundation is a non-profit charitable institution that was established to assist KSKJ members with charitable giving. Your gifts qualify for the maximum deductibility for income, gift and estate tax purposes. Because the Foundation cannot give legal or tax advice, we recommend that you consult with your legal and tax advisors prior to making any charitable gift.

The simplest and easiest gift is cash, whcih provides immediate and financial support to the charities and special causes that you, as a member, designate. Appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate, held for one year or more, are other attractive ways to make a gift to the Foundation. By donating these appreciated assets, you may be able to avoid capital gain taxes on the appreciation.

The KSKJ Life Foundation may also be the owner of a life insurance contract that you would like bequeathed to your favorite charity. Simply make the qualified charity the beneficiary. Life insurance is an easy and affordable way to donate a much larger gift to a charity, rather than a cash amount. Purchasing life insurance with either one payment or a series of payments ensures that the amount of life insurance is more substantial than the amount being paid for it.

As an example:

A 70-year-old female (non-smoker) may purchase $10,000 of life insurance for $5,210 (a one-time payment). A 70-year-old male (non-smoker) may purchase $10,000 of life insurance for $5,930 (a one-time payment).

If annual payments are preferred, the payment would be $536.90 for a female and $654.60 for a male. Monthly, quarterly and semiannual payment modes are also available, as well as other life insurance plans.

A KSKJ tax-deferred annuity may also be used instead of life insurance for your donation.

If you have life insurance or an annuity in place, you may request to name the KSKJ Life Foundation as the owner and the charity as the beneficiary. The advantage here is that it may be protected in the case of you having to enter a nursing home and your assets risking depletion. Please check with an elder care attorney or your tax advisor to determine your state's regulations on the Medicaid five-year look-back period.

Your information is private. Your name will remain anonymous and will be disclosed at your request only. We do not sell, share or exchange names, addresses, email addresses or telephone numbers. Disclosures regarding your gift will only be made to people you identify.
