Lions Club International is a community service organization in which I recently became a member. At one of last month’s meetings, the guest speaker was the Executive Director from the Guild for the Blind, which is located in Chicago. This organization was established to serve individuals who are blind or visually impaired and help with daily living tasks at home, work, or at school. These caregivers often find they need to drop what they’re doing at work to handle the loved one’s pressing health matters – often at the expense of their performance and, possibly, their job.
While care-giving can be disruptive, planning ahead is helpful to avoid workplace disruption.
